Bike Riders

Clara can officially ride her bike without training wheels. It was amazing to me because we had her bike taken apart for maybe 3 weeks. And then the second we get it put back together she was off and going.
John rides with no fear. The new helmet has eased my concerns. I know that the second we put him on a bike he will have no problems. His little glider has been awesome!

Roasting

John's Three!

He wanted watermelon, tomatoes, hotdogs and an orange cake to eat. We also had a fun little activity of going to visit the lifeflight helicopters at the hospital. John is a smart, orderly boy that wants to laugh and have fun. He is steller at sharing and tells lots of jokes!

Feed Thy Soul

Yesterday I read this poem from Garden of Roses. In a backwards way it reminded me of this photo.  In my post entitled Family I mistakenly called this Oak Leaf Hydrangea a hyacinth during a slip of the mind. Recalling my mistake I was happy to read such a nice poem.

If of thy mortal good thou art bereft
And from thy slender store two loaves alone to thee are left.
Sell one, and with the dole
Buy hyacinths to feed thy soul.

Photography, poetry, and hydrangeas feed my soul.

FYI: My Baby

 She kinda has crazy hair.
She like to look at flowers and plants. We have some branches that are really low so I put her under them and she touches them and is happy.
John loves this baby and is a happy brother to have around.
She loved loved loved the dancer mobile.
She still has plugged tear ducts that goop up her eyes so fast. I can't stay on top of it. Often there are times when she wakes up and her eyes are glued shut! So sad. On a lighter note, Margaret frequently blows bubbles. We have seen some really large ones.
She sits on Dad's lap while he plays and she hangs on to his fingers and tries to play. It is so cute!
When I change her diaper she tends to grab onto the railing.

Little Growing Grapes and Cobwebs

I recently went to my 10 year high school reunion. I had so many reservations but I am so glad I went. I remembered how much I liked the people I went to high school with. We had a lot of good times. Most of them are stellar people that I wish I could be like and see more often. We ate, danced, had fun awards, and generally chit-chatted. Thanks Agnes for making it happen!

Days of '47

It happens often that I depend on the kindness of strangers. In this case we were late to the parade and I wanted to be in a place where the bands start. We squeezed our way in and a kind lady let John sit on her lap. After I got my fill of band music and the heat we headed back to south and main where we had a front row seat and shade. Clara's favorite was the princesses (beauty queens) and John's was the Chinese Dragon. I enjoyed the Polynesian Cultural Center float and there awesom dancing.

I have realized that all summer I have been dressing Clara in the same outfit....

Family

I have always loved the different personalities the plants have. Lately I have been noticing how much plants remind me of families and family life. How offspring look the same but different. Generations builds on generations (Oak leaf Hydranga). Some families have two children (Oak leaf Hydranda) and some have lots (Tomato leaf).  I see how we follow in our parents footsteps like little ducks following Mrs. Mallard (Morning Glory).

Big Weekend

We segregated. The boys went off on a camping trip and the girls went to Gardner Village! Aunt Brandy painted John's face and you should have heard the exclamation when the crowd saw him. I heard it from outside. We celebrated Lib's and Luke's birthday and lit fireworks. Mom's house is always a party.

Wild Beasts

Days go slowly but weeks and months fly by! It is fun to see Clara and John play together. They have cute little stories they make up and I am happy with how much there blankets get used for forts and lakes. I am happy knowing the names that they have made up for there stuffed animals. Doggie, Blossom, Thomas, Wendy, Rainbow.
Margaret is a champ at holding her head up and she can roll from her tummy to her back. I have also seen her scoot herself around in 360 degrees. She smiles and has a huge bald spot on the back of her head. I kiss her pretty face hourly.
I found this poem that I think goes really well with the photo of Clara and John.

Wild Beasts
By Evaleen Stein

I will be a lion
And you shall be a bear,
And each of us will have a den
Beneath a nursery chair;
And you must growl and growl and growl,
And I will roar and roar,
And then- why, then- you'll growl again,
And I will roar some more!

Downpour

We had some showers and it was amazing to see how much water rain down our ditch. I remember downpours in Cedar City when I was pre-school age. The ditches would be full and the water would be reddish brown.

Liberty Park

We loved seeing the MaIlmoils. They are always so fun to go out with. One day is not enough. John still talks about going on the airplanes and cars. Clara Taryn and John had a great time trying to stay in the shadow of the american flag. Tara took the carasel photo.
